Coffee Shop in Hoi An for Remote Work: Laptop Rules, Wi-Fi and Quiet Hours

Hoi An has beautiful cafés, but a pretty table is not automatically a dependable office. Laptop rules, opening hours, power access and noise can change by venue, branch, season and time of day. This guide separates details confirmed on current first-party pages from older venue reports that should be checked again before you settle in.

Research date: October 15, 2026. This is desk research, not a claim that every café was visited or speed-tested. We do not publish a Wi-Fi number unless the venue itself publishes one, and we do not assume that a café permits an all-day laptop session.

The quick recommendation

For a short email session near the old town, Hoi An Roastery’s main branch is the clearest current café option in our source set: its own site lists the branch at 135 Tran Phu and hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The site does not publish a laptop policy, Wi-Fi speed or outlet map, so ask before setting up.

For a call-heavy day or work that needs predictable seating, Hub Hoi An is the stronger choice. It is a coworking space with a café rather than a normal coffee shop. Its current site advertises two air-conditioned rooms—one silent and one for calls—outdoor work areas, business-grade internet, desks, printing and phone booths. First-time visitors are welcomed Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; existing members have 24/7 access.

How we checked the venues

We prioritized current pages owned by each venue. We used an older 2023/2024 Hub Hoi An café guide only as a discovery source for other names. Because that guide can no longer prove a 2026 policy, every older detail is labeled “reconfirm.” Prices are omitted unless a live official booking page shows them at the time of writing.

1. Hoi An Roastery: best for a short old-town session

Hoi An Roastery’s current official site identifies its main branch at 135 Tran Phu in the ancient-town area and lists opening hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The company says it was founded in 2015 and focuses on Vietnamese coffee.

Those facts make it a practical place to investigate when you need coffee and a brief laptop stop near the old town. They do not establish that staff welcome long work sessions. The site currently says nothing about laptops, video calls, outlet availability or measured Wi-Fi.

Best use: 30–90 minutes of light work after asking staff. Avoid treating a small table as a reserved desk during busy tourist periods. Keep calls outside and make another purchase if you stay beyond one drink.

2. Hub Hoi An: best for a full workday

Hub Hoi An is not a conventional café, but it solves the problems that cafés cannot promise. Its current website says the coworking area has a silent, air-conditioned room; a separate calls-allowed room; outdoor areas; four phone booths; hot desks; printing; and a café. It publishes current visitor hours and says existing members can access the space 24/7.

The site also publishes internet information. It says two business-grade fiber connections are used and that Speedtest readings are usually 240–260 Mbps up and down, with at least 120 Mbps download under an average load. These are the operator’s claims, not our independent measurements, and real performance can vary.

Best use: client calls, deadlines, uploads and days when a desk and power matter more than the price of one coffee. Check the live booking page for pass availability and the final price.

3. Bonte Cafe: a lead to reconfirm

Hub Hoi An’s August 2023 guide described Bonte Cafe as a large, multi-level venue with a quieter upper area. Because that account is more than three years old, do not rely on its former hours, access charge or Wi-Fi description. Search the venue’s current page or call on the day you plan to visit.

Ask: Is laptop work allowed today? Is the upper level open? Is there a minimum spend or separate access fee? Which seats have power? When does the student or morning crowd peak?

4. Rosie’s Cafe: brunch first, workspace second

The older Hub guide mentioned generous seating and a back room at Rosie’s, but also described crowding and an afternoon close. Treat those details as historical context, not a current promise. A popular brunch venue may reasonably prioritize diners at peak periods.

Best use: a breakfast followed by a short planning session if staff agree. For a two-hour video call, choose a coworking space.

5. Sound of Silence: weather-sensitive beach work

Hub’s older guide described Sound of Silence as a large beachside café with indoor, shaded and beachfront seating. It also mentioned sockets. Coastal humidity, rain, heat, glare and wind can make an attractive setting unsuitable for electronics, while current outlet access and laptop rules may have changed.

Best use: reading, writing or low-risk offline tasks in dry, mild weather after confirming permission and power. Bring a charged battery and protect devices from sand and sudden rain.

6. U Cafe: a quiet lead that needs a current check

The older guide presented U Cafe as a calm riverside venue with multiple floors. It is worth checking for a quiet session, but its historical hours and Wi-Fi description are not enough for a 2026 guarantee.

Ask: Are laptops welcome on the floor you want to use? Are group calls prohibited? What are today’s closing time and food-service peaks?

Laptop etiquette in Hoi An

Ask before you settle in

A quick “Is it okay if I work on my laptop for about an hour?” prevents misunderstandings. Mention a call in advance. Staff may point you to a better table or ask you to avoid a busy period.

Buy for the time and space you use

One coffee should not reserve a four-person table for a day. Order food or another drink during a longer stay, and move if staff need the table.

Avoid meal rushes

Brunch and lunch venues earn money from table turnover. Mid-morning or mid-afternoon is usually easier, but ask because seasonality and tour schedules change the pattern.

Use headphones and take calls elsewhere

Even a quiet voice carries in an open café. Use headphones for listening and move to a call-friendly area for meetings. Hub Hoi An’s separate calls room and phone booths are designed for that need.

Carry a backup connection and power

A local SIM or eSIM hotspot is useful when public Wi-Fi slows or drops. Bring a power bank and adapter. Do not run cables across walkways or assume a visible outlet is available to customers.

Weather and seasonal planning

Hoi An’s outdoor and beach seating can be less useful during heavy rain, strong wind, high humidity or midday heat. Covered seating is not always sealed against wind-driven rain, and a fan does not replace air conditioning for every traveler. Keep a coworking day-pass option for storms, important calls and large uploads.

A two-stop workday

Use a café for an early coffee and light writing, then move to coworking for meetings and focused work. This avoids putting office-level demands on a hospitality business while still enjoying Hoi An’s café culture. It also gives you a fallback if a venue is crowded or its policy has changed.

Frequently asked questions

Which coffee shop in Hoi An is confirmed open on a current official page?

Hoi An Roastery’s own 2026 site lists its main branch at 135 Tran Phu and hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The site does not publish a laptop or Wi-Fi policy, so confirm those details with staff.

Where can I take work calls?

Hub Hoi An says it has a calls-allowed room and four phone booths. A normal café should not be assumed to welcome video calls.

Are Hoi An café Wi-Fi speeds reliable?

They vary with the venue, router, crowd and upstream service. Hub publishes operator-supplied speed information for its coworking network. We found no current first-party measured speeds for the listed conventional cafés.

Can I work all day after buying one coffee?

Do not assume so. Ask, buy regularly, use a small table and avoid peak meal times. For an all-day desk, book coworking.
