Gonçalo Hall is the CEO at NomadX, one of the biggest nomad communities in the world with physical communities in Madeira, Caoi Verde and Lisbon. Also he launched projects like the Remote Work Movement, Future of Work Conferences, Remote Portugal and Remote Europe in order to help the movement grow and spread.
2020 – what a year for the workplace! Almost one and a half years ago the first lockdowns were announced and in-office employees transformed into remote keyboard warriors. A drastic change that transformed the office overnight!
One of the earliest seeds of the coworking movement sprouted in Berlin, Germany in 1995 with the opening of c-base, a non-profit association originally designed as a place for hackers to come together, collaborate, and share their ideas. In this same year, American game designer Bernard DeKoven coined the term “coworking” to describe the idea of people from different backgrounds working in a shared environment. By the end of 1995, hackerspaces had opened in Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Brooklyn, and seminars and social events became regular events at some of the spaces.
The term “digital nomad” is becoming increasingly popular in modern life, but it is still largely misunderstood by many countries and cultures. Digital Nomads are people that, generally speaking, combine work and travel – the perfect combination for those adventure-hungry individuals
The rise of digital nomads is a trend that has been on the rise for several years now. Digital nomads are people who work remotely and are not tied to any particular location. They are free to travel and work from anywhere in the world, as long as they have an internet connection. This lifestyle has become increasingly popular over the years, especially since the pandemic began.
We would advise who wish to undertake the nomadic adventure to learn to launch themselves, to be guided by their hearts, following their dreams and projecting them with the same energy of everything that really makes them vibrate and feel alive, otherwise we would live being asleep waiting for a future that will probably not happen because we are denying it ourselves.
